Ronaldo injured yet again
Ronaldo has been ruled out of Brazil's clash with Chile on Saturday after suffering a thigh strain in a comeback match for Inter Milan. His recall to the Brazil squad was controversial, as he had not played a full game for 17 months.
Brazil go into the match realistically needing all three points if they are to avoid the play-offs and maintain their 100% World Cup Finals presence.
Brazil manager Luiz Felipe Scolari's recall of Ronaldo could be interpreted as desperation. Scolari was hoping that Ronaldo would inspire the team, and elevate their performances from a recent spell of poor form.
Although Chile can no longer qualify, Brazil will need to be wary of the team that beat them 3-0 last year. 3rd October 2001 |
