Germany narrowly beat United States
Germany are through to their tenth World Cup semi-final after beating the United States 1-0 in a tense match. Michael Ballack scored the decisive goal in the first-half.
Goalkeeper Oliver Kahn kept Germany in the game with a succession of top class saves during long periods of United States pressure, and although they deserved a goal, the Americans never breached the German defence.
