Brazil beat disappointing England

Brazil have beaten England 2-1, despite playing with only ten men for most of the second half. Michael Owen put England ahead after a defensive mistake, but Rivaldo pulled one back in first-half stoppage time.

The game's central player, Ronaldinho, scored a freak goal from a free-kick before being dismissed for stamping on Danny Mills. The game was not the spectacle that everyone had hoped for, but Brazil deservedly progress to the semi-final.

England will be disappointed with the number of chances they created against Brazil, who passed the ball around in a far more confident manner.

England

Seaman, Mills, Campbell, Ferdinand, Ashley Cole (Sheringham 79), Beckham, Scholes, Butt, Sinclair (Dyer 56), Owen (Vassell 79), Heskey

Brazil

Marcos, Roque Junior, Lucio, Edmilson, Cafu, Gilberto, Ronaldinho, Kleberson, Carlos, Ronaldo (Edilson 70), Rivaldo
