Diao earns Senegal point against Denmark
Salif Diao scored the goal that gave group A underdogs Senegal a 1-1 draw against Denmark, and was then sent off for a horror tackle on Rene Henriksen.
Jon Dahl Tomasson's penalty put Denmark 1-0 up, after Salif Diao brought the striker down. Diao then finished a superb, sweeping move that started deep in the Senegal half, before leaving the pitch in disgrace.
In the heat of the afternoon sun the game was played at a slow pace, and probably helped to shorten tempers.
There were numerous fouls in a first half which Denmark controlled, but they created few clear cut chances.
Senegal's second half goal seemed to fill them with confidence, and they had the better of the last period.
The shared points have put both teams in a very strong position at the top of Group A, and have put huge pressure on champions France.
