Costa Rica beat naive China

Costa Rica are top of Group C after their defeat of World Cup newcomers China 2-0, leading Brazil on goal difference.

Ronald Gomez scored the first after his back heel to Wanchope resulted in the ball deflecting back into his path. Only four minutes later China were two behind when Mauricio Wright headed home a Gomez cross.

Although having a fair share of the possession, China lacked concentration at the back and conceded two sloppy goals. When in attack their shooting was wild, although the same could be said about many of Costa Rica's efforts.
