Inzaghi to miss first game

Italy's Filippo Inzaghi will miss their first match of the 2002 World Cup with a knee injury from a warm-up match against the Kashima Antlers on Sunday.

The Italian medical team are now resigned to getting Inzaghi fit for the second match against Croatia. Although he has not sustained any serious damage, Inzaghi will need at least seven days rest before playing again.

Inzaghi was out of action for three months after an operation on the knee in December, but scans have revealed that his old injury has not flared up again, and that he should make a swift and full recovery.
