Wanchope fit for Costa Rica squad

Paulo Wanchope has been named in the Costa Rica World Cup squad after recovering from knee operation in February.

Manager Alexandre Guimaraes will be hoping that Wanchope, one of only four of the squad based overseas, can provide the necessary firepower upfront. In Group C, along with Brazil, Turkey and China, goals will be very hard to come by for the South American underdogs.

The Costa Rica squad in full:

Erick Lonnis (Saprissa), Alvaro Mesen (Alajuela), Lester Morgan, Carlos Castro (Alajuela), Harold Wallace (Alajuela), Mauricio Wright (Heredia), Juan Jose Rodriguez (San Carlos), Daniel Vallejo (Heredia), Reynaldo Parks (Saprissa), Jervis Drummond (Saprissa), Gilberto Martinez (Brescia/Ita), Luis Marin (Alajuela), Wilmer Lopez (Alajuela), Mauricio Solis (Alajuela), Walter Centeno (Saprissa), Rodrigo Cordero (Heredia), Rolando Fonseca (Alajuela), William Sunsing (Heredia), Ronald Gomez (Ofi-Crete/Gre), Winston Parks (Udinese/Ita), Paulo Cesar Wanchope (Manchester City/Eng), Steven Bryce (Alajuela), Hernan Medford (Saprissa)
