Baggio left out of Italy squad

As claimed by the Italian media, Roberto Baggio will not be going to the 2002 World Cup, after being left out of Giovanni Trapattoni's final squad.

Trapattoni decided that Baggio's susceptability to injury was too big a risk to take. Apart from Baggio, there are no surprises in the squad which is the same group of players that took Italy through qualification.

The complete Italian squad:

Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), Francesco Toldo (Inter), Christian Abbiati (AC Milan), Fabio Cannavaro (Parma), Alessandro Nesta (Lazio), Paolo Maldini (AC Milan), Christian Panucci (AS Roma), Marco Materazzi (Inter), Mark Iuliano (Juventus), Francesco Coco (Barcelona), Luigi Di Biagio (Inter), Cristiano Zanetti (Inter), Gianluca Zambrotta (Juventus), Gennaro Gattuso (AC Milan), Angelo Di Livio (Fiorentina), Damiano Tommasi (AS Roma), Cristiano Doni (Atalanta), Marco Delvecchio, Vincenzo Montella (AS Roma), Francesco Totti (AS Roma), Christian Vieri (Inter), Filippo Inzaghi (AC Milan), Alessandro Del Piero (Juventus)
