Rivaldo will not last the World Cup

The Barcelona doctor Ricard Pruna has said that Rivaldo will not be able to play in all of Brazil's World Cup matches due to a knee injury.

The same problem kept him out of both legs of the Champions League semi-final against arch-rivals Real Madrid. He suffered the injury whilst playing against Celta Vigo last month, but was still picked for the Brazil squad because of his importance to the team.

The Barcelona doctor has spoken to Spanish journalists about the matter:

'Rivaldo could not play the entire tournament. His performance level will be unknown.'

The news will be a massive blow to Brazil, who struggled even to reach the Finals. Without Rivaldo, the continued comeback of Ronaldo may be all the more crucial.
