World Cup 2002 Stadiums - Kobe

The Kobe Wing Stadium was so named to stimulate thoughts of re-birth. After the Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995, much of the city has been rebuilt, and the stadium is another symbol of the city's resurrection.

It is another purpose-built all-seater football venue, and is a major part of Kobe's promotion of its new sporting image.

Kobe Information
Kobe is certainly one of the world's biggest international ports, and maybe the most beautiful.

There has been a harbour at its location for over 1200 years, but it wasn't until 1868 that Kobe became truly international.

A flourishing population was sadly decimated during the Second World War, but has increased steadily since.

Easily accessible by all forms of transport, Kobe has both ancient and modern quarters and nearby beaches.

Local landmarks include Mount Rokko, the Arima Hot Spring and the world's longest suspension bridge. Nearby town Nara is famed for sake brewing.
