World Cup 2002 Stadiums - Daegu

The Daegu Main Stadium was specifically built for the 2002 World Cup, taking four years to complete.

It is situated on a 500,000 square metre complex in Suseong-gu. Three-quarters of the seating is covered by a Teflon coated roof membrane through which natural light can pass. The design incorporates elements reminiscent of a traditional Korean house.

Daegu Information
Daegu is steeped in tradition and culture and contains many cultural relics from the Ancient Shilla and Kaya Dynasties.

It is now a a major industrial centre producing textiles, optical frames, bicycles and in particular, synthetic fibre.

Suurounding Daegu are many sites of interest such as the Pulguksa Temple and Sokgulam Buddhist Grotto, and Heinsa Temple which contains the famous printing boards of Buddhist Sutra.
